Based in Dakar and before that, in Maputo, Marco has covered political and social issues, conflicts and humanitarian crises, migrations and environmental topics across the African continent, and particularly in West Africa, the Sahel, and Southern Africa. 

He had the chance to cover historical events such as the fall of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe and of Abdelaziz Bouteflika in Algeria. In recent years, his work explored the links between armed insurgencies, the climate crisis and migration in the Sahel. 

His reportages and photos appeared in Italian and international media outlets, such as Deutsche Welle, Al Jazeera, Voice of America, Swiss National Radiotelevision, Internazionale, Afrique XXI, La Repubblica, Lifegate.
